Welcome to the Giving Voice Chorus Blog: A learning community

Dear Giving Voice Chorus Singers, Family Members, Caregivers and Others,

Welcome to the new Giving Voice Chorus blog!

We live in a world of enormous possibilities.  High-speed communications, social media, news, and information challenge our capacities and senses each day.  Many important ideas, understandings, and learnings also long to be shared on a deeper level.  For Giving Voice Chorus participants and audiences, stories and realizations about our connected lives are sources of hope and strength.  We hope that this new community-focused blog will stimulate a collective dialogue on many levels.

The intent of this new, inclusive blog is to share collective learning.  Whether you are a chorus member or director, caregiver, chorus director, family member, health care provider, or student interested in learning more about the impact of choral music and singing involving persons with early-stage dementia,  we hope you will share your experiences with this new virtual community.  Our vision is to create a comfortable, open table where individuals in choruses throughout the United States and internationally can share innovative lessons learned, share compelling stories, or simply pose questions to a collective community of choruses that celebrate the creativity and passion of persons with dementia/Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.

The healing power of singing together and choral music for persons with dementia and their caregivers is gaining local, national, and international attention.  For choruses in the United States, Canada, U.K., Australia, and other countries, we are just beginning to reach out to each other.   We hope this open forum will be a catalyst for meeting each other, sharing insights, and creating a virtual learning community.

We invite you to share your stories, insights, and musings with us through this intentional blog.   You are all welcome at the table.  There is room enough for all.
