Creating Meaningful Music Experiences for People with Dementia

Rachelle Morgan, MA, MT-BC, is a certified music therapist and owner of Soundscaping Source, an organization dedicated to helping more older adults and care partners to have meaningful music experiences together. She will talk to us about how to create meaningful music experiences for people with dementia and their care partners in rehearsal, outside of rehearsal, and why it matters.

Music is Love, An Anniversary Concert

Sunday, June 9th, 2024, 2pm

We have to say, 10 years flies by! That's what happens when you're having fun, right? We are thrilled to share that we will be at Orchestra Hall in June with a special anniversary concert. We are getting ready to fill Orchestra Hall with music, joy, laughter, and maybe a few tears as we give a dementia defying performance. Together, we can replace the stigma of dementia with a perspective of hope and possibility. Mark your calendars and join us in June!

Giving Voice Chorus Minneapolis Fall Concert

Giving Voice would love to introduce you to some talented women whose contributions to the music world have mostly played a background role, but we believe deserve to be recognized and share that center stage.

2nd Annual Summertime Community Sing

Thursday August 3rd, 2023 at 7pm

Twin Cities friends! Come sing-a-long with us!! Head on down to Water Works at Mill Ruins Park, 333 South 1st Street in downtown Minneapolis (by the river). At Giving Voice, we love singing so much we want to share the joy of singing with everyone. Come find out why singing together is life-affirming and life-changing for people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias by joining us! Grab your water bottle and a chair and head on down to Water Works Park. (Please allow some extra time for parking!) We'll sing some songs you know and maybe some new ones too. Our friendly group will make you feel like you're part of the chorus in no time! It's the highlight of the summer.

Step into Spring with Giving Voice Concerts

Friday May 12th, Saturday May 20th, and Sunday May 21st

Join us for a celebration of songs that connect! Come join us for a collection of uplifting songs that will bring joy to your heart. Spring means concert season! Friday, May 12th, Saturday, May 20th, and Sunday, May 21st. Our choruses will show a different side of what it means to live with Alzheimer's. It is possible to live well with dementia. There is still friendship, laughter, joy...and music! After working hard all semester to learn a repertoire of fabulous music, we are ready to entertain you and make your heart sing!

We've got some great shows coming up that you won't want to miss, so mark your calendars now! Our choruses have some fun repertoire lined up that will be sure to get your toes tapping. If you've got the theme song from the "Golden Girls" in your head, you know what we're talking about! Our Minneapolis and St. Paul Choruses will be singing songs about friendship. We got some familiar tunes and some new favorites lined up. Our Edina chorus is heading "Back to Broadway" with lots of old favorites from classic musicals. We are having the best time rehearsing these songs and we can't wait to share them with you!
